Computer science the study of the principles and use of computers. Web Development in particular is a specialization of computer science that involves building web applications on the internet.

Web developers get to create things for the web. We get to build anything ranging from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, and social network services. Over the years it has evolved into a multi-disciplinary field that also include, content creation, information architecture and user experience design.

Web Developers can work in any industry you can think of; Advertising, Literature, Television, Travel, Interior Design, Fashion, Health, Architecture, Legal, Food & Beverage, Charity and Art just to name a few. They can work internally within their organizations, or even work on their own as freelancers or their own agencies. They can work in startups, or even create their own products and applications that turn into businesses.

You can literally build something that is amazing and useful that help and connect people from all across the world. You’re also not just writing code, you’re also solving real world problems. Everything has a use case, and you get to build something that solves those cases. You never stop learning and the industry as a whole continues to evolve so there’s always a new and exciting project to be worked on.
